Abandonment is an original leitmotif of my work. It's not about abandoned or dilapidated places, but about places that are still intact and could be repossessed at any time. I like to describe this abandonment as an ‘absence of presence’. It is a visualisation of the invisible.

A photograph is a scene, a 'scene of memory', and can therefore be read as a symbol of time. But a scene is also a place of possibilities. This idea interests me and I try to portray it without pathos, objectively and with distance. The viewer of the photographs becomes a lonely spectator in front of an empty stage without actors.
