I was born in Cologne, grew up in Berlin and learnt to love Paris. Trained as an architect, I now work as a graphic designer.

Abandonment is an original leitmotif of my work. It's not about abandoned or dilapidated places, but about places that are still intact and could be repossessed at any time. I like to describe this abandonment as an ‘absence of presence’. It is a visualisation of the invisible.

A photograph is a scene, a ‘scene of memory’ and can therefore be read as a symbol of time. But a stage is also a place of possibilities. This idea interests me and I try to portray it without pathos, objectively and with distance. The viewer of the photographs becomes a lonely spectator in front of an empty stage without actors.
